Calla lily
In November 2007, I had the chance to go to Baguio. I thought it was the most opportune time to break in my brand new camera bought by wifey from her trip to the U.S. With a brand new Olympus E-510 in tow, I did a solo photo walk within Brgy. Pacdal.
I was just starting to shoot when it rained that afternoon. So I ended up waiting in one of the souvenir stores in Wright Park, which was already closing. I waited and waited until the rain became drizzles. I decided to walk further and ended up in Baguio Botanical Garden. It was getting dark but I was unfazed. Unfamiliar with the camera functions and settings appropriate for the weather, I ended up using "P" mode. What the heck! I did not want my trip to go to waste. Besides, I was just a beginner then. [Smile!].
I was in a botanical garden, ergo, I looked for flowers to shoot. The water drops would make it perfect for flowers. This calla lily was one of the many.
I converted this into black and white, adjusted levels and lowered the curves to make a heavy dark background, sharpened it to bring out the water drops.
That photo walk was certainly a walk to remember.
Very nice BW conversion. Good choice to shoot after the rain.
