Tell me your story

Tell me your story

This is one of my first photos using my Olympus E-510 DSLR.  I thought that this scene would elicit many stories from a photographer's point of view or perspective.

How we tell stories is a very personal experience.  Nobody can tell the photographer what to say or what not to say.  It is beyond comprehension by anyone who merely looks at this picture.  No one can interpret his psyche with just a glance.  Why?  A photographer, I believe, is affected by the flow of his consciousness at the time he captures a certain image.  Digging deeper into his consciousness would further reveal some feelings, emotions, thoughts, and philosophies--the state of his soul and mind.

We can, however, only appreciate at a superficial level.  We can only comment on the technical merits of a photo--how badly or excellently exposed it was, how we used lines and shadows, how we took advantage of the rule of thirds, etc., etc., etc....But we can never fully grasp his consciousness.

Like the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) I learned from my psychological testing, now, tell me,

"What do you see in this photo?  Can you tell me more about it?"
