Grounded

Grounded

"Start where the people are." - is the first tenet of development management I have inculcated in my mind as a development worker.  Consulting with people before any development project is a primordial task that a change agent has to undertake.

Being grounded--listening to their ideas, needs and proposals for action will make any development effort likely to succeed.  First, because they take ownership of the project.  As a stakeholder, people would make every single activity to succeed.

In this photo are the group of mothers we have consulted for their housing relocation project in Pangil, Laguna.  They were victims of typhoon Ondoy in September 2009.
